In Bloom, 2024
18×24 in acrylic on canvas, finished with archival varnish.
I painted this over a long weekend in October 2024, during a time of transition when I was hoping to cultivate stillness. I had been buried in work from a corporate job and finally had a chance to come up for air. I realized how much I’d lost touch with my creativity. This painting is special because it brought me back to myself. Like fall, it gave me a moment to pause and recalibrate before winter.
I love change, and to me, fall and change are synonymous. I’m an idealist, so I can feel the air shift overnight, suddenly full of opportunity and the promise of fresh starts. While In Bloom might suggest spring, fall is actually when I tend to bloom, returning to myself. I’m grateful that last fall brought me back to art, painting, and a creative practice.
